Finally after months of waiting, I went to my first physical therapy appointment. After an assessment, we got into some nitty gritty exercises.
It appears that my neck and shoulder issues may be separate. I have a bunch of inflammation and soft tissue damage going on in my neck, but my shoulder may be arthritis.
Which might actually be good news as it means I don’t have a pinched nerve. I guess when we see the results of the MRI, we’ll no more. I just called my doctors office to asks them to fax the information to my PT.
In the meantime I have exercises to do. And will be going twice a week, except the week we go on vacation, but I will do my exercises on my own.
The chin tucks I have been doing frequently. Standing, sitting, lying and even while doing yoga as it takes the pressure off my neck by relaxing the muscles.
I was hoping for a massage, but he was afraid of causing me pain since much of mine is in the soft tissue. Maybe after some work in strengthening the muscles.
I did a disservice when I stopped doing my yoga. I should have continued and just modified the exercises around the arm. I truly can’t totally extend my arm anymore. It’s getting easier since I started again, but not all the way.
Arthritis needs movement. My knees figured this out. My fingers haven’t yet… I guess I haven’t figured the right exercises for them yet.
Love, Peace and Light! Rita
