Fatigue

How can I explain fatigue? It’s more than tired. The definition is extreme tiredness resulting from mental or physical exertion or illness. What causes it? The above definition is true. Even a vacation can cause fatigue.

It’s sad to say, but I can be down for a day or more after a vacation. Even a vacation that is total relaxation can take a toll on my body if there is travel involved. I guess the only vacation that wouldn’t tax my system would be to stay at home with the same perks of a relaxing vacation. LOL! Like that would happen.

When I am fatigued I am tired, but more than that… I am exhausted. My body just wants to collapse and is sometimes painful. It’s difficult to motivate myself to do anything.

It usually takes me a day or more to recover from vacation and may take longer to recover from actual exertion where I overdo it.

Have you ever went more than 24 hours without sleep? If you have… then you might understand a little about fatigue. It’s not just your muscles being too tired, though they are. It’s not just being sleepy, though you are. It’s not just feeling sluggish, though you are… it’s a combination and so much more.

I hope this helps explain it to you.

Love, Peace and Light! Rita

  1. Understand completely. I get that way after several hours on the road. The last time I vacationed, I was fatigued and dizzy for three days after we got home, and we didn’t even travel that far–600 miles round-trip. I tried flying, but that was just as bad. Too much ear pressure and light-headedness. Plus, the hectic, noisy airport disoriented me. I had to be wheeled through the terminals. When we reached our destination, I was stressed and off-balance. I give you a lot of credit for traveling–for not giving up! Hope your energy level returns soon.

    1. I refuse to give in. I just rest when I need to. Sometimes I have no choice. For airports I have blue light filtering lenses, ear plugs and I get wheel chair assistance. I chew gum, eat or suck on candy on take off and landing which helps tremendously. Unfortunately, I forgot when we traveled to California by car to do the same as we drove through the mountains. My hearing went out.
